Grind-O-Matic: Flower power
22/11/13 || Cobal
It’s a bitch to judge and grade, grindcore. Besides the eventual technicality some acts may show, songwriting is normally non-existing and everything sounds almost the same to me. Such is the case of Grind-O-Matic’s “Flower power”.
If anything, I felt the riffs particularly dissonant up to the point of making me uncomfortable. Of course, I understand that’s a good mark. Also there’s some pretty groovy moments here and there, however, with songs that last only one to two minutes, it’s difficult to appreciate it. Finally, as every other respectable grindcore record out there, there’s huge use of sound samples presumably taken from old movies and whatnot. Fun and extremely ingenious as their creators might consider it, such feature didn’t do shit for me.
But don’t pay attention to me, I’m definitely not an expert. Instead, judge yourselves.
1/10: Could have listened only to the first two tracks and spare myself the boredom. There are fucking twenty of them.
After going thru that crap, you most likely wanna read something way more interesting. You do, admit it.
